I've been reading lately a lot about the internet and prostitution rings. Also that Craigslist is the breeding ground for the unsavory. Now I have no compassion for anyone, male or female that exploits children. I have zero tolerance for pedophiles and I'm for the death penalty in such cases. Extreme...maybe, justified...absolutely. So it is with great reservation that I write an article defending Craigslist and the like. Here it goes anyway. I am an escort/dominatrix. I am 30 years old and I have been doing this professionally for 10 years. I do not use drugs, I am well kept and impeccably maintained. I save alot of my money in hopes of purchasing a home in the near future. Now I know that this business is conducive to drug addiction, arrest, psychological problems and the never ending feeling that you are trapped. Many do not make it. But many do. I am an example of the ones who make it. You may differ in opinion, but that is just it - an opinion. I approach this as a business and treat it as such. I pay good money in other publications to advertise my services. I simply use Craigslist as another form of advertisement. Tons of people use CL and they used to be really cool people. Kind of like the Readers alternative community. Unfortunately as of late this has not been the case. Apparently CL is the prime source of revenue for a sub-class of on-line pimps and underage prostitutes. This concerns me on many different levels. First and most important, the underage girls who are being exploited and basically being sold to very affluent men. The girls are the innocent here. Granted they may have had a troubled childhood, but this is not the healing way. I am against anything that helps exploit kids. Secondly there has been an increased presence of LE on CL. If it to combat pedophiles - fine. I'm just not sure the sheriffs dept. will stop at just that. An article on the AP wire stated that the governor is assembling an on-line task force dedicated to stopping on-line crimes against kids. That is fine and scary all at the same time. What about me? Will I be the target of an on-line investigation, even though I am 30, commit no crime, pay my taxes and steal from nobody? Will they cleanse CL of all on-line pimps? Experience tells me no. Experience tells me that when they are done searching for them, I will be next on the list. Well, girl's like me will be next. Is there an answer to this problem? I'm sure if there is it will be an almost impossibility to implement. So what has to be done? It is true we do need to address this problem, we need to incarcerate those who have committed crimes against kids. I just hope it stops at that. The only real solution is to allow this state to go the direction of Nevada. They seem to be getting it right. Look at the crime stats of any Nevada ranch and I'm sure you will find a low crime rate. Only when things become illegal, is when shit turns bad. I mean of course go after the perverts who like kids. But leave me out of it. Well that's all I got to say.
